What do you want ?

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together
to visit their old university lecturer. Conversation soon turned into
complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee,
the lecturer went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of
coffee and an assortment of cups: porcelain, plastic, glass, some
plain-looking and some expensive and exquisite, telling them to help
themselves to hot coffee When all the students had a cup of coffee in
hand, the lecturer

said: "If you noticed, all the nice-looking, expensive cups were taken
up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for
you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of all
your problems and stress. What all of you really wanted, was coffee,
not the cup, but you consciously went for the better cups and are
eyeing each other's cups."

"Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money and positions in society
are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life, but the
quality of life doesn't change. Sometimes, by concentrating only on
the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it."

Don't let the cups drive you ... Enjoy the coffee.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill.
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns.
And many a fellow turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man.
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup.
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar.
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.
And that's worth thinking about.
